Introducing Johleen Vlok …

Johleen is the newest member of the Wriggle and Rhyme team, presenting our baby (Wrigglers) and toddler (Rhymers) classes from her home in Kleinbosch (Panorama area) from next term.

Johleen, please tell us a bit about yourself?

I am a wife to my wonderful husband, Andy and the mom of two gorgeous boys Colby (7) and Alexander (3).  Having children has really changed me.  I feel like I was made for motherhood and my heart feels full and complete.

I’ve always had a great love for music and singing ever since I was a little girl. Singing in the school choir in primary school holds some of my fondest memories.  Music is something that always came naturally to me and I am fortunate to be able to play the piano.  I can’t imagine my life without music and my precious family. One of the highlights of my life now, is being able to play the keyboard in our music team at church.  It’s something I really enjoy and look forward to so much.

What have you been doing recently?

Ever since I had my first child, going back to work full time was the hardest thing for me.  I longed to be with my son so much!  About a year after going back to work full day, I decided to work half days as a bookkeeper for a few years.  When my eldest started Grade R I decided to be a full-time mom, earning extra income on the side with my photography. My heart is with my family, and I want to be the one moulding and shaping my two boys into the wonderful men I know they can be.

Why did you choose Wriggle and Rhyme?

I’ve always had a keen interest in early childhood development and education.  When friends told me about Wriggle and Rhyme and the business opportunity it presents, I was over the moon.  It would mean building on my interest in childhood development, combined with my love for music.  It would also give me the flexibility to be at home for my children whilst contributing financially to our household.  I love children! I love education! I love music! So, it feels like the perfect fit!

What are you most excited about?

I’m excited about doing something that I love and enjoy. Also, the fact that I would be playing a role in the development of little people.  Making a difference and contributing to society in some way has always been one of my heart’s desires and Wriggle and Rhyme is giving me the opportunity to do that. I’m also looking forward to connecting with other moms and helping them to connect with each other.  I look forward to my home becoming a wonderful space where music is made and friendships are built!
